It looks like the post office will go to a 5 day delivery schedule. I think it is long overdue if they want to survive. They need to cut cost rather than rasing prices at this point. I have seen in my neighborhood they are removing some mail boxes and they now have private post offices.

I agree with the 5 day delivery but they should keep post offices open on Saturdays. Easiest day for most people to get there. People complain about the price of a stamp but I think its a small price to pay to get your mail delivered. I wonder how many people send letters anymore?

This is a typical government response to a spending crisis.
Ante up trillions of dollars in new, unpaid for spending, but cut Saturday mail delivery. Yep – that ought to close the funding gap! After all, $3.5 billion will make a big dent in that 2 year projected deficit of $2.9 trillion!

What a disgrace

The postal service has been urged to go to a 3 day delivery by accounting group.

Americans actually underpay for mail services. .42 cents is pretty cheap to send a letter across the country.
The subsidies are a problem.

Talk about a waste of money? I just got a letter from the Census Bureau telling me that they will send me a census letter next week. Why couldn't you just wait till next week and surprise me with the letter? I guess it was a pre-letter. Whatever you call it, it is a waste of money.

Those letters were for the people who missed the ads during the Superbowl game that cost millions.
